MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Sept. 1, 2021) — According to the Ponemon Institute’s 2021 “Cost of a Data Breach” report, the average total cost of a data breach in the United States is $9.05 million — up from $8.64 million in 2020 and more than twice the global average.

These are just two of several large-scale hacks that have already occurred in 2021.
